Qld: Beattie calls for clean campaign, condemns Lib handout

The Liberal Party has fired the first salvo in Queensland's unofficial election campaign
- and it hit home.

Premier PETER BEATTIE was alerted to anti-government leaflets being distributed at
NUNDAH railway station in Brisbane's inner north.

One outraged passenger gave Mr BEATTIE'S office a copy of the leaflet, featuring an
unflattering picture of the premier and asking what he was hiding.

Mr BEATTIE immediately labelled the Liberal Party handout the start of the opposition's
dirty tricks election campaign.

Liberal Party state director GRAHAM JAESCHKE says Mr BEATTIE was being overly sensitive
for complaining about the leaflet.
