Qld: Fire in Brisbane squat leaves man critical
BRISBANE, Dec 21 AAP - A fire in a vacant house in Brisbane has left a man in a critical
condition with burns to 80 per cent of his body.
The blaze broke out around 2am (AEST) today at a house in City Road at Beenleigh, believed
to be occupied by squatters.
A passing paramedic who noticed the fire tried unsuccessfully to rescue the man before
being beaten back by flames.
Eventually fire crews managed to pull the man out through a broken window.
He was rushed to the Royal Brisbane Hospital and was today in a critical condition.
Police are still trying to ascertain the man's identity.
