VIC: Commission to regulate electricity, gas: Bracks
MELBOURNE, Feb 8 AAP - Utilities such as electricity, gas, water and public transport
will be regulated by a commission to be established by the Victorian government.
The Essential Services Commission will monitor price quality, the security of supply
and ensure there is adequate supply to service the State.
Premier Steve Bracks said the commission, a Labor Party election promise, would have
the public interest as its paramount responsibility.
Legislation is expected to go before State Parliament during the autumn session to
